Baha'i organization buys three houses near Wilmette temple

The national Baha'i organization paid more than $1.4 million for a house across Linden Street from its landmark Wilmette temple, its third purchase of a home in the neighborhood in 15 months.

The church has spent a little more than $4 million on the three houses, which are not all next to one another. It plans to use to them as rentals, said Glenn Fullmer, director of communications at the Baha'i National Center in Evanston.

"We wanted to diversify our investment portfolio in an area that has retained its value, and we obviously have an interest in that street because our temple is across the street," Fullmer said.
